Basic insurance: If there is a medical reason – such as very high values or a large difference between the two eyes – basic insurance pays in principle; cost approval is required before the procedure.
Supplementary insurance: Many supplementary insurance policies contribute between CHF 150 and CHF 1’500, depending on the product. We recommend obtaining cost approval beforehand – we will help you with this.
What the individual insurers pay · Laser eye surgery and health insurance
Medical expenses you pay yourself are deductible to the extent that they exceed the deductible threshold: for federal tax and in the Canton of Zurich this is 5 % of net income, in St. Gallen 2 %, and for the cantonal tax of Basel-Landschaft there is no threshold. As of the 2027 tax period, Circular No. 11a of the Swiss Federal Tax Administration (ESTV) explicitly lists laser eye surgery as a medical expense.
Example for the Canton of Zurich: net income CHF 80’000, deductible threshold 5 % = CHF 4’000. If treatment of both eyes costs CHF 5’000, CHF 1’000 is deductible – together with your other medical expenses for the year.
For six months you pay in interest-free instalments, directly with us and without a bank check. Example: Femto-LASIK for both eyes (CHF 3’600) comes to CHF 600 per month. For longer terms we put you in touch with our partner heylight, where a credit check and market interest rates apply.
All laser procedures are performed personally by Dr. med. univ. Victor Derhartunian. He is an FMH specialist in ophthalmology, FEBO, FWCRS, has worked in refractive surgery since 2006 and has performed about 25’000 refractive procedures.
As medical director, he oversees all medical care and all measurement data – including the pre-examination that determines your price.
The figures for glasses and contact lenses are Swiss market guide values, not offers from EyeLaser. Laser correction does not make you free of glasses forever: presbyopia sets in from around the age of 45, regardless of whether you have had laser treatment. There are dedicated procedures for this, such as PresbyMAX or refractive lens exchange.
Prices taken from our price list, as of October 2026.
