Femto-LASIK 7D: The gold standard for precision and versatility

ICL

While newer procedures such as SmartSight are excellent options for certain eyes, Femto-LASIK 7D is the globally established and most thoroughly scientifically documented gold standard in refractive surgery. It is a procedure that combines maximum precision, safety, and an extremely broad range of applications.

Femto-LASIK demonstrates its exceptional strength and reliability particularly in the correction of farsightedness (hyperopia) as well as in the treatment of presbyopia in combination with our specialised PresbyMAX procedure.

Our true strength: customised correction for your eye

EDOF

Imagine your refractive error like a fingerprint—absolutely unique. Standard laser eye treatments often correct only the dioptre values. At EyeLaser, we go one decisive step further. Our strength lies in so-called “Customized Treatments”—wavefront-optimised, customised treatments.

  • Like a bespoke suit for your eye: Instead of a standard correction, we create a high-resolution, three-dimensional map of your eye. This analysis also captures the finest individual optical imperfections (so-called higher-order aberrations), which are crucial for the quality of your vision, especially at night.
  • The goal: optimal visual outcome: Based on this unique “fingerprint”, the laser treatment is tailored precisely to your eye. The goal is not only that you see sharply, but that we achieve an optimal visual outcome . This often results in improved contrast vision and a reduction in glare effects at night.

Your Path to Perfect Vision in 4 Steps

We support you at every step of your journey. Transparency and your well-being are our top priorities.

Free Initial Consultation & Eligibility Check (Approx. 15 Min.)

In a brief, non-binding consultation, we clarify initial questions and check whether you are generally suitable for treatment.

Comprehensive Preliminary Examination (Approx. 2 Hours)

This is the most important appointment. We measure your eyes using state-of-the-art diagnostics, create a precise “map” of your cornea, and discuss in detail the best method for you, the procedure, the benefits, and possible risks.

The Treatment Day (Approx. 2-Hour Stay)

The laser treatment itself takes only a few minutes per eye and is painless. We guide you calmly and safely through the entire process. Afterwards, you rest briefly with us before being discharged to go home with protective goggles and a detailed aftercare plan.

Professional Aftercare

We will see you for follow-up checks the next day, after one week, one month, and after three months. Your safety remains our highest priority even after the procedure.

Your decision, your quality of life

Dr. Victor Derhartunian

The decision to undergo laser eye treatment is often deeply emotional. Many of our patients from the Zurich region report a desire for more spontaneity and freedom in everyday life. At the same time, there are often uncertainties and fears: Is the procedure really safe? What if something goes wrong?

Dr. med. univ. Victor Derhartunian (FEBO, FRCOpth), Lead Surgeon at EyeLaser Zurich:

“I face these questions every day. My most important task is to build trust in a personal consultation and replace any uncertainty with well-founded facts. Many people in Zurich are extremely well informed and rightly expect the highest precision and quality—this is exactly what we provide. The greatest joy for me is seeing patients’ emotional reaction the day after the procedure, when they see clearly for the first time without visual aids. This is more than a medical correction; it is a new chapter of life.”

A thorough preliminary examination is the key to success. Here is a simple overview for initial guidance:

🟡 Yellow light (assessment required): Mildly dry eyes. Large pupils. Thinner cornea. Age over 45 (procedures such as PresbyMAX or lens exchange may be more suitable here).

🔴 Red light (not suitable—consider alternatives): Unstable glasses prescription. Severe eye conditions (e.g. keratoconus). Pregnancy or breastfeeding. Femto-LASIK is one of the safest medical procedures worldwide. Nevertheless, no procedure is 100% risk-free. Responsible patient information is part of our quality promise. Possible, mostly temporary side effects may include:

  • Dry eyes: Normal in the first weeks after the procedure and easy to treat with eye drops.
  • Sensitivity to glare (glare/halos): Especially at night, light sources may initially appear with halos. This usually improves significantly within a few weeks or months.
  • Under- or overcorrection: In very rare cases, a follow-up treatment may be advisable, which is usually free of charge with us within the first year.

Top FAQs for Zurich and Switzerland

Here we answer the questions that most often concern our patients from the Zurich region.

What costs should I expect for Femto-LASIK 7D in Zurich, and what is included?

At EyeLaser, we focus on complete transparency. A fixed price includes the comprehensive preliminary examination, the procedure using state-of-the-art laser technology, all necessary medications for the initial period, as well as all follow-up checks within the first year. There are no hidden costs.

Does the health insurer or supplementary insurance in Switzerland cover the costs?

The mandatory basic insurance generally does not cover the costs. However, many Swiss supplementary insurance plans contribute to the costs. We recommend asking your insurer directly about the scope of benefits for “refractive surgery”.

How long will I be off work? Is sick leave possible?

Most of our patients with office jobs can return to work after 1–2 days. We recommend taking the day of treatment and the following day off. Sick leave for an elective procedure is unusual, but we will be happy to issue you a confirmation.

When can I exercise again—especially skiing, hiking on the Uetliberg, or swimming in Lake Zurich?

Light activities are possible after a few days. When skiing, good sunglasses are essential. Due to the risk of infection, you should wait about 2–3 weeks before swimming in Lake Zurich. Contact sports are advisable again after about 4–6 weeks.

There are cheaper providers. What justifies the price at EyeLaser in Zurich?

With us, you are investing in uncompromising quality and safety. The price reflects the use of the latest laser technology (7D eye tracking), the surgeon’s extensive experience, seamless local aftercare in Zurich, and our highest hygiene standards. We make no compromises when it comes to the health of your eyes.
