FAQ

How much does laser eye surgery cost in Zurich?

The cost of laser eye surgery in Zurich ranges between CHF 1,500 and 3,500 per eye, depending on the method (LASIK, Femto-LASIK, PRK/TransPRK or SmartSight/SMILE). During your personal consultation, you will receive an individual treatment and cost plan.

Is laser eye surgery in Switzerland safe?

Yes. At EyeLaser Zurich, we only use state-of-the-art femtosecond and excimer laser technology. The procedures are clinically proven, precise and safe. All potential risks will be discussed with you in detail beforehand.

Which laser eye surgery methods are available?

We offer the full spectrum of modern procedures:

  • Femto-LASIK – highly precise, fast recovery
  • TransPRK / PRK – surface-based, gentle, no flap
  • SmartSight / SMILE – minimally invasive, lenticule extraction
Who is suitable for laser eye surgery?

Laser eye surgery can treat:

  • Nearsightedness (up to approx. –10 dpt)
  • Farsightedness (up to approx. +4 dpt)
  • Astigmatism (up to approx. 5 dpt)

Suitability can only be confirmed after a comprehensive eye examination at our Zurich clinic.

Does laser eye surgery hurt?

No. Thanks to numbing eye drops, the procedure itself is completely painless. Some patients may experience mild irritation or tearing for a few days afterwards – this usually disappears quickly.

How long does the procedure take?

The actual laser treatment usually takes only a few seconds per eye. The entire procedure lasts about 15–20 minutes.

Trifokallinse
How quickly will I see clearly after laser eye surgery?

Most patients notice a significant improvement the very next day. Vision continues to stabilise over the following days to weeks, depending on the method.

What are the risks of laser eye surgery?

Possible side effects include:

  • Temporary dry eyes
  • Light sensitivity in the first weeks
  • Rarely: enhancement procedures may be needed

With modern technology and highly experienced surgeons, complications are extremely rare.

Does Swiss health insurance cover laser eye surgery?

In Switzerland, health insurance generally does not cover the cost of laser eye surgery. It is considered a self-pay treatment.

Why choose EyeLaser Zurich?
  • Over 15 years of experience in refractive eye surgery
  • Latest laser technology (SmartSight, Femto-LASIK, TransPRK)
  • Personal care from experienced ophthalmic surgeons
  • Central location at Lake Zurich
What if I am not suitable for laser eye surgery?

If laser eye surgery is not an option due to very high prescriptions or thin corneas, we offer modern alternatives:

  • ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) – ideal for high myopia or thin corneas
  • Premium intraocular lenses (IOLs) – e.g. multifocal or EDOF lenses, which can also correct age-related presbyopia
Can you also correct reading glasses (presbyopia)?

Yes. With advanced procedures such as Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) or PresbyMAX®, we can treat presbyopia (age-related farsightedness). This often reduces or eliminates the need for reading glasses.
