Free precision analysis & suitability check

Lay the foundation for your safety. Instead of simple vision tests, we use state-of-the-art OCT technology to medically assess the feasibility of surgery with precision – non-binding and performed by specialized optometrists.

MS-39 (2nd Gen) diagnostics

We create a high-resolution 3D layer image of your cornea using state-of-the-art OCT – the gold standard for safety.

Wavefront analysis

We measure the unique “optical fingerprint” of your eye. Crucial for optimal results in night vision and contrast.

Objective recommendation

Based on this data, we determine whether SmartSight, ICL or solutions for presbyopia (PresbyMAX / lens exchange) are ideal for you.

FAQ – Questions about costs. Eye laser surgery procedure in Zurich

What does eye laser surgery cost in Zurich and does health insurance cover it?

The costs start transparently from CHF 1,500 to 2,500 per eye. Since this is an elective procedure, basic insurance usually does not cover it. However, many patients use our 0% financing. By the way: In the long term, laser surgery is often more affordable than years of contact lenses and glasses.

When can I return to work or exercise?

With modern methods such as Femto-LASIK or SmartSight, you are often ready to return to office work the next day. Exercise is usually possible again after a few days. We plan the procedure so that you have minimal downtime.

Will my eyes be operated on personally by Dr. Derhartunian?

Yes. EyeLaser Zurich is not an anonymous chain. Dr. Victor Derhartunian (FEBO) personally performs or supervises the treatments. You have a dedicated contact person from the preliminary examination to the follow-up check.

Is eye laser surgery safe? What if I blink?

Thanks to our 7D eye tracking (Schwind Amaris technology), the procedure is extremely safe. The laser responds to every eye movement in milliseconds. Blinking is impossible because a small holder keeps the eye open – completely painless thanks to anesthetic drops.

I only need reading glasses – can you help me too?

Absolutely. From around age 45, often the best solution is not laser surgery, but lens exchange (multifocal lenses). This allows us to permanently correct your presbyopia, so you need neither distance nor reading glasses.

Where can I find the practice in Zurich and are there parking spaces?

You will find us in the heart of Zurich on Strehlgasse, just a few minutes’ walk from Paradeplatz and Bahnhofstrasse. Public transport access is ideal, parking garages (e.g. Urania) are in the immediate vicinity.

How quickly will I see clearly after eye laser surgery?

Most patients see significantly better the next day. Final visual acuity stabilizes within days to a few weeks, depending on the method.

Welche Risiken gibt es beim Augenlasern?

Possible side effects include:

  • Temporarily dry eyes
  • Light sensitivity in the first weeks
  • Rarely: touch-up procedures

Thanks to years of experience and state-of-the-art technology, complications are very rare.

Does health insurance cover the costs of eye laser surgery?

In Switzerland, health insurance companies generally do not cover the costs of eye laser surgery. It is a self-pay service.

Why choose eye laser surgery at EyeLaser Zurich?
  • Over 15 years of experience in refractive surgery
  • State-of-the-art technology (SmartSight, Femto-LASIK, TransPRK)
  • Individual care by experienced specialists
  • Central location on Lake Zurich
What if I am not suitable for eye laser surgery?

If eye laser surgery is not possible due to high refractive error or thin cornea, we offer modern alternatives:

  • ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) – ideal for high myopia or thin cornea
  • Premium lenses (IOL) – e.g. multifocal or EDOF lenses, which can also correct presbyopia
Can reading glasses also be corrected?

Yes. With modern procedures such as Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) or PresbyMAX®, we can treat presbyopia. This greatly reduces or completely eliminates dependence on reading glasses.

Our goal is to continuously keep our knowledge in refractive surgery, lens surgery and eye laser treatment up to date – so that our patients benefit from high-quality, modern treatment.

Dr. Victor Derhartunian was honored with the Patients’ Choice Award from 2012 to 2023.
